Narrow striped textiles are characteristic of Turkey, Syria and Iran. Traditionally hand woven, they come in silk, cotton and wool and there are some similarities across these textiles for the whole region. Susan has collected a range of antique stripes in silk, wool and cotton which inspired her new weave, "Bursa". This is a more masculine, darker textile than Susan's other colours and complements many of her embroideries and richer coloured cushions and kilims. Bursa is named after the Turkish city of the same name, which used to be the capital of the Ottoman Empire and where silk weaving in Turkey is centred.
This fabric will look equally lovely used for upholstery, curtains, blinds, ottomans/footstools and cushions.
Beautiful on it's own and excellent as for combining with Susan's other fabrics, cushions and lampshades.
Woven in England.
